PayPal 2-factor authentication provides an extra layer of protection. Every time you log in to your PayPal account, you should provide additional authentication for logging in, also with a password and username/user email. It provides an effective security layer for your online transactions and accounts from hackers and cybercrime. Whenever you log in to your account, you should also give the 6-digit code so that two layers of security secure your account, and hackers can’t access your account quickly in the case you set up 2-factor authentication on your account; otherwise, it will be at hackers’ attack risk. What is 2-factor authentication

2-factor authentication, or 2FA, is a security layer to the account you are signing in to. Suppose anyone logs in with your username and password.In that case, he is also unable to access your account before you provide access to your account by entering a 6-digit code sent to your mobile through the message on your mobile sim card or in the authenticator app. And most interesting is that the code expires in just 10 minutes. After that, the code is automatically generated again, different from the previous one, and you are safe and protected.

Setup 2-factor authentication on your Paypal account

Here is the step-by-step process for setting up 2-factor authentication on your PayPal account.

1-Login to your Paypal account

2-Then click on the setting icon( a gear like icon at the right of your account next to the bell icon)

3-Then click on the security tab in setting

4-Click on the 2-factor authentication tab (setup)

Here you find two options to set up 2-factor authentication for your Paypal account.

Option 1; By getting the code on your mobile through a message

In this method, you must click the option send me a text message.

After clicking the news, you will get a code on your mobile through the news on the number registered on PayPal, so now you should enter the six-digit code in the authenticator.

Option 2; By setting up the authentication app

In this method, click on the option to use an authentication app. For that purpose, you should have to download the android app( Microsoft authenticator app or Google authenticator app)

After clicking + sign in to the authenticator app, you should have to scan the QR from your mobile app or manually add a code in the app.

After adding the account, the authenticator app generates a six-digit code randomly.

Now provide that code in the given space to verify it’s you that is accessing your account.

Now you have activated 2-factor authentication to your Paypal account. You can turn it off whenever you want by simply clicking on you the option turned off in the security menu.
